In a picture-book format, the Canada at Work series introduces young children to the people, machines and environmental concerns involved in forestry. It explores the different methods used to cut down trees, the inside workings of a sawmill, pulp and paper mill and the importance of reseeding. Canadian in every detail, this book will help kids appreciate the work involved in bringing forestry products to their homes.
An interesting and thorough introduction to the subject.
When possible, the authors explain the necessity for alternative and less intrusive methods. Care for the environment is stressed as the primary concern, but Drake and Love address both sides of the issue.
