The best books of poetry published in English internationally and in Canada are honoured annually with the Griffin Poetry Prize. The 2009 edition of the anthology includes poems from all the books to be shortlisted this year by judges Michael Redhill, Saskia Hamilton, and Dennis O'Driscoll. The poems in the anthology are selected and introduced by Redhill, the Canadian member of the jury.

Royalties from the sales of the anthologies are donated to UNESCO's World Poetry Day.

About the Author
Michael Redhill is a critically acclaimed poet and novelist. He is the author of four poetry collections, Light-Crossing, Lake Nora Arms, Asphodel, and Impromptu Feats of Balance, and the novels Consolation, longlisted for the 2007 Man Booker Prize and winner of the Toronto Book Award, and Martin Sloane, a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. He lives with his partner and their two sons in France.
